Milwaukee City Hall falling apart again

Milwaukee’s City Hall was repaired in 2008, and those repairs cost around $76 million. Now, the building is falling apart again, and many are wondering who is going to pay for repairs, this time around.

In February of 2011, a piece fell from the top of the building and hit a car parked below. The city has now spent about $400,000 trying to figure out why the building continues to fall apart.

A Break in a Milwaukee Hit and Run

Investigators may have found a hit-and-run vehicle that struck and injured a Milwaukee police officer on Christmas Day. 37-year-old Frank Vrtochnick was standing near his squad car when he was hit by an auto that was going on the wrong side of a street. It never stopped. Yesterday, police said they found a car that matched a description of the vehicle — but they stopped short of saying it was actually the one involved. Officers said they acted on a tip when they seized the car from a garage a few blocks from where the crash occurred. Vrtochnick, a five-year veteran of the Milwaukee Police force, remains hospitalized in critical condition. The Sheboygan Press reports that the officer was a graduate of Sheboygan South High School.
