Altuve, Martinez help Astros top Brewers

Jose Altuve had a career-best four hits, and J.D. Martinez had three hits and three RBI to lead the Houston Astros over the Brewers 7-5 Wednesday and stop an 11-game losing streak against Milwaukee.
Chris Snyder put the Astros ahead for good at 5-4 with an RBI single in the seventh off Jose Veras (2-1) after Brian Bogusevic doubled and stole third.
Wilton Lopez (2-0) pitched a 1-2-3 sixth, and Brett Myers got three outs for his third save. Houston, which hadn’t beaten the Brewers since May 1, had 14 hits and won for the third time in 11 games overall. The Astros avoided a three-game sweep.
Ellis scores 33 points as Milwaukee Bucks

Milwaukee coach Scott Skiles knew Monta Ellis would eventually start putting up the big numbers he became known for with Golden State.
“You know when you make a move like that to get a significant player, there has got to be some period of time where you have got to allow for the guy to adjust and people to adjust to him,” Skiles said before Tuesday night’s game against the Atlanta Hawks. “It wouldn’t surprise me at all for him to have a big breakout game at any moment.”
Randy Wittman sends message in loss to Milwaukee

The Wizards were oh-so close to completing an improbable comeback, oh-so close to winning a game that they would have easily conceded, without much resistance, in the first half of the season. John Wall weaved around and tossed in a running floater that gave the Wizards a one-point lead with 6.8 seconds remaining and he received flying chest-bumps and high-fives as he headed to the bench.
Milwaukee 3-pointers extinguish Phoenix

Milwaukee used a barrage of 3-pointers to get past Green Bay and sweep the season series between the two in-state rivals. The Phoenix made a run late in the game using the chase-and-foul method but ended up falling short as the Panthers walked away with an 81-75 victory on Alec Brown bobblehead day Feb. 4 at the Resch Center.
The previous meeting between these teams featured a tight battle ending on a clutch game-winning 3-point shot from Milwaukee senior guard Kaylon Williams. But in this match up, which Milwaukee shot 12-for-23 from 3-point territory, the Panthers was continually able to pull away from the Phoenix whenever they threatened.

Two Milwaukee people are part of a trio of thieves wanted for ripping off electronics stores from Illinois north to Green Bay.
The group hit stores in about a dozen places, and it looks like they may not be done. Only one of them is in custody, but police are pulling out all the stops to get the other two.

Milwaukee lose spot at NHL playoffs

Milwaukee played their final regular season game Sunday afternoon, losing to the Grand Rapids Griffins 2-1 in regulation. The win was the final game of the season for the Griffins, as they finished the season dead last in the Western Conference with 75 points and did not qualify for the playoffs.

Miami has a tie with Milwaukee for the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference, though the Bucks own the tiebreaker, and cut the Heat’s magic number to clinch at least the No. 6 seed.
